Here we go again! It feels like only last week we were seeing paper bunnies in every shop window and giving out chocolate eggs. But it’s almost the holiday season again, so here is a short guide about the upcoming summer markets held around Australia, to get you ready for the silly season.
Melbourne and Victoria:
From the weekly Rose Street Market to one-off events such as the Spring Craft and Market Day at the Abbotsford Convent, there is no denying, Melbourne is spoilt for choice when it comes to craft markets. We’ve scoured through every market and come up with our top three markets for the Melbourne and Victoria region…
The Creators Market
This quirky little ‘travelling’ market makes its way around Victoria; with events held in Melbourne, Ballarat, Bendigo and the Bellarine Peninsula. The Creators Market aims to showcase all the fantastic home-grown products by crafters around Victoria. The market is free to attend. They have three events coming up in the next three months, so get pouring and book your stall now for either the 29th October at Terindah Estate (Bellarine), 25th November at Prahran Town Hall or 10th December at Dromana Estate (Tuerong).

Makers Market (Heidi)
Encased by the serene backdrop of the Heidi Museum of Modern Art sculpture park, comes the Makers Market. This market was established by the Heidi Museum and the Rose St. Artists’ Market, to offer a beautiful space where makers and artists alike can debut their goods and produce. Held on the second Saturday of every month, the next market will be held on the 11th November. What a fantastic way to spend the weekend, in such a picturesque part of Melbourne!

Moonlight Market (Bendigo)
With its mix of eclectic local designs, art and vintage and handmade goods, with some great live music and food trucks, the Moonlight Market is one to watch, especially over this summer season. Located at the Hargreaves mall, this market just keeps growing! The next market will be held on October 21st, then November 25th, but check the website for more information. From clothing, crafts, homewares and more, this Saturday night market is a must for local talent to share their goods!

From bustling cities to lazy beachside towns, New South Wales has an array of produce and local talent on offer. And where better to showcase this than at weekend, night or seasonal markets! Here’s our top 3 picks for New South Wales…
The Grounds Markets
Located at the Grounds Storehouse, the same site as the old Salts Meats and Cheese warehouse, the Grounds Markets is a generously sized market (80+ stalls) has a rotating schedule of stallholders which changes weekly, keeping it different every visit! Entry is free, so check out this market before it ends for the year on 21st December.

WA is such a huge chunk of Australia, so this made our job of choosing only three markets very, very tricky. After sleepless nights debating which markets we thought deserved to make this list, here it finally is, our 3 favourite markets in WA!
Artisans’ Collective WA
This newly launched, pop up market caters to handmade and local goods from around WA and Australia. featuring goods from very talented designers, crafters, and artists the Artisans’ Collective is a funky new market concept which should be on everyone’s radars over this festive season.

Broome Courthouse Markets
For a truly enjoyable weekend, head to the Broome Courthouse Markets. Here you will find anything and everything Broome has to offer; local food, plants, gifts, arts and crafts, clothing, jewellery, even tour information can be found at this little market! Located in the heritage listed gardens surrounding the old Broome Courthouse, the markets have been running for 25 years long and they were forever growing.

Perth Makers Market

Tasmania
Every person and their dog knows about the Salamanca Market; Hobart's premium market space, attracting tourists and locals alike, every Saturday of the year. So, we decided to keep this obvious market off our list and put together a top-three left of centre markets which you may not have heard of or visited.
The Market
Held at Hobart’s Masonic Temple six times a year, ‘The Market’ prides itself on giving local, independent Tasmanian artists and designers an opportunity to promote their wares. Operating since 2009, the founders approach remains the same, to offer high quality goods, and high-quality exposure for fresh Tasmanian creators.

Tassie Makers Market
This little market just keeps growing! What began as a small group of craftspeople in the Tamar Valley, has turned into a real haven for artisans’ specialising in handmade goods and producers. From cakes, breads, arts, crafts, jewellery, clothing, homewares, children’s clothing and toys, soaps, candles and much, much more, if you can make it, you can sell or find it at the Tassie Makers Market.

Richmond Farmers & Makers Market
This market has community at the heart of it, emphasising locally grown, made and sourced products from the Coal River Valley and surrounding areas. A newly born market which is continuously growing, this market offers food, entertainment and locally crafted goods. Located in the historical village of Richmond, the volunteers who run this market make sure that everything sold or bought is truly unique to the area, and the money made is reinvested into the community.
